Doctors for Walz & Nurses for Walz

Dear Friend,

Years ago, I found myself losing hearing in one of my ears due to my time in the National Guard as an artilleryman (and probably from more than a decade of supervising a high school lunchroom as well).

Thankfully, because my family has healthcare coverage, I was able to have surgery that improved the hearing in my ear. One morning, as I was waking up, I heard a sweet sound coming from my daughter’s room. I turned to my wife, and said “Gwen, what is that?” Gwen told me, “Well, Tim, that’s Hope. She sings every morning!” I had never heard it before!

That’s why I’m fighting to make healthcare affordable for every American: so that every father can hear his daughter sing, every sick child can go to the doctor, every veteran can receive the care he or she deserves and every senior can receive prescription drugs without turning the
thermostat down in the winter.

I’m proud that so many doctors and nurses are standing with me as we work to provide healthcare to every American. Please take a look at Doctors and Nurses for Walz and get involved: we need your help!

Sincerely,

Congressman Tim Walz

Highlight Walz Record of Common-Sense, Bipartisan Leadership

(Rochester, MN) – Today, local medical professionals gathered to launch Doctors and Nurses for Walz. In a health care system that is increasingly more complicated, these hard-working citizens know that Tim Walz has always put patients and providers ahead of partisan politics. During his first term, Walz fought to expand the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to more of Minnesota’s children, prevent cuts to Medicaid and Medicare and improve the quality of healthcare delivered by the Veterans Administration.

“Since beginning his campaign in 2005 through his first 20 months as Congressman for southern Minnesota, Tim Walz has demonstrated an ability to work across party lines to come up with real solutions for our health care system” said former State Senator Sheila Kiscaden. “He’s the type of leader we need in Washington working for us.”

“Congressman Walz has a record of advocating for all parts of the health care system – from improving care for veterans and children, to ensuring that our research facilities have the funding they need,” said Doctor Mark Liebow. “We need to send him back to Washington to continue the positive change he’s brought to Congress in his first term.”

The Minnesota Nurses Association announced its endorsement of Congressman Walz at Monday’s event as well.

Tim Walz is currently serving his first term in Congress. He is up for re-election this year on November 4, 2008.
