TIM WALZ LAYS OUT CLEAR VISION FOR RURAL AMERICA AT 2010 FARMFEST FORUMSays Minnesota work ethic and ingenuity is the key to a strong rural economy Redwood County, MN- Today, at the 2010 Farmfest Forum, Tim Walz laid out his vision for the future of rural America. “Our rural communities are the economic engine of our nation and the strength of our agriculture sector is one of the reasons I remain optimistic about our future,” said Walz. “Folks in southern Minnesota know that the same old typical politicians will get us nowhere, and I know getting the job done for our farmers require all of us – Republicans and Democrats – to work together.” “When putting together the 2008 Farm Bill, Tim listened to my ideas about how to ensure we have a next generation of farmers ready and willing to continue the way of life we all treasure and Tim took them to Washington. He brought people together and worked with Republicans and Democrats to craft a Farm Bill that made sense for southern Minnesota,” said Matt Wolle, a young farmer from St. James. “That’s the kind of leadership we need.” “Whether it’s fighting for an energy policy that puts our national security first, fighting to make sure our veterans get the benefits they have earned, or opposing using your taxpayer dollars for the bank and auto bailouts, you can be sure I will continue fighting for you,” Walz concluded. Walz participated in a forum with Congressional candidates from Minnesota’s 1st, 2nd, 6th, and 7th congressional districts. -30- |

| Tim Walz Stands Up for Transparency (6/23/2010) |
Tim Walz Stands Up for Transparency
Demmer has consistently sided with corporate interests
Mankato, MN – State Representative Randy Demmer made it clear he would stand on the side Wall Street corporations as he called for the defeat of the DISCLOSE Act, legislation supported by millions of Americans to ensure transparency in US Elections following the Supreme Court ruling known as Citizens United.
Tim Walz released the following statement:
Rep. Randy Demmer made it clear today he would stand on the side of Wall Street corporations that caused our economic collapse with their reckless decisions instead of standing up for southern Minnesotans.
Instead of standing up for the right of citizens to know who is spending money in elections, Rep. Demmer is standing up for corporate interests who want to keep that information secret. Instead of standing up for taxpayers, Rep. Demmer is standing up for big banks who want to use your taxpayer dollars they received in the bailout to influence elections and defeat those who are holding them accountable.
Instead of standing up for Americans, Rep. Demmer is standing up for the right of foreign companies to spend millions of dollars to influence U.S. elections without having to disclose that they are not an American company.
There are enough politicians standing up for special interests and Wall Street. I will continue to stand up for hard working Minnesotans. I believe we all have a right to know who is spending money in elections. I will continue to stand with southern Minnesotans and fight for openness and transparency in Washington.
